Notes From the Terraces
February 2026
Twenty-five minutes inland from AZURA, the coastline gives way to a valley of terraced rice fields that have been farmed by the same handful of families for generations. Our Temple & Village Walk experience passes through here, guided by members of that community rather than a general tour operator.
What struck us most on a recent walk was how little has changed in the actual farming methods — the terraces are still flooded and drained by hand-dug channels, following a water-sharing system that predates any resort on this coast by centuries.
It's a useful reminder, walking those paths, that AZURA is a guest here too.
